Chantal Heutink tells how she helps girls in Kenya
On the benefit evening Chantal Heutink talks about her projects in Kenya. With 20 years of experience in business services she has founded the Afri-Can Foundation. Based on the principle “teach people how to fish instead of giving them fish ‘. Under the name I-Care Pads she has developed washable menstrual pads. A solution for a big problem. “Millions of girls in Africa miss school for a few days every month because they have their menstruation. They are ashamed for their menstruation and often have no money for sanitary napkins. With the I-Care Pads the girls can go to school during their period. With that they get more education and improve their position. Besides that, the I-Care Pads are made in Kenya and provide employment and income for the women there.”
